President, Manhattan School of Music
"Pride. That thing which is beyond self-worth, but an assurance of one’s dignity and value as a human. When we talk about Pride Month, we often skip over why we call it Pride Month in the first place, rather than LGBTQ+ Awareness Month or Liberty Month or something similar," writes Sasha Romero (in photo above), MSM trombone faculty member and Principal Trombone in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
MSM President James Gandre will receive an Honorary Doctor of Music degree and deliver an address at his alma mater, Lawrence University, in Appleton, Wisconsin, on June 8 and 9, during the school's 2024 Commencement weekend.
On May 15, 2024, Manhattan School of Music presented its Annual Gala in New York City’s iconic Rainbow Room. Hosted by Tony Award-winning MSM alumnus Shuler Hensley (BM ’90, HonDMA ’14), the evening celebrated the School’s Musical Theatre program, the only stand-alone musical theatre conservatory program in New York City.
